This superb ‘Forest House’, the home of photographer Paul Doherty & Brodie Nugent-O’Leary and their dog Hype, is neatly nestled into a stunning wooded area just outside the village of Kilmacrenan in Co. Donegal.
Their stylish new home was recently awarded the Residential Project of the Year 2020 award by the Irish Construction Industry in the Small Home category.
Designed by Donegal-based McCabe Architects, the house has been praised for its excellent use of materials.
NWA were approached by Paul and Brodie to provide a range of solutions for the architectural aspects of the build and to also supply a range of our innovative, high quality Guaranteed Irish aluminium rainwater products.
Our goal was to give them a solution that would provide a functional purpose but to also ensure there was no compromise to the architects and clients vision for the house.
Our technical team were tasked with designing and detailing a rafter cover that would ensure the architectural integrity of the project was maintained and 35 bespoke covers were then painted in a matt brown colour to match in with the burnt timber cladding and Aluminium soffit.
As you can see from the photographs, we think it is fair to say that their new home is an incredible architectural achievement - from their choice of site to their interior finishing touches.
NWA are very proud to have worked on this project and are delighted that Paul & Brodie are now reaping the rewards for their hard work making their vision into a reality.
We would like to give them our continued best wishes and say a big ‘thank you’ for choosing NWA.
